the certainty of ancestral urging

Wild geese

the certainty of wild geese
winging toward the bone-called south
priorities of generational twitch
in the sudden necessity
of rising,
singing,
unrestrained song of once and future flight
into the gray autumn afternoon sky

Rise up

Wild geese

Exultation in their songs,
jubilant in their wildness,
the geese rise in thunderous union,
wings ready for the north winds call.
Rise up, they shout,
Rise up
and spread your wings-
autumn is here and winter approaches.
Give into the joy of wind
and the rush of feathers in flight.
