Hayfields

Hayfields

standing before
small landscapes
of haystacks
his perception of light
in a brush stroke of oil
and I am struck dumb
with the beauty

standing before
the vast landscape
of hayfields
the perception of light
written in the flight of fireflies
and I am struck dumb
with the beauty

Sharp is Her Blade

Moon in the Afternoon
sharp is the blade
grass tall and green in fields of June
sharp is the blade
grass shorn close as the field is hay’d
summer stars across the sky are strewn
her scythe is sharp, the crescent moon
sharp is her blade
