spring pear 2012

warming earth gently prods the arthritic roots
curled in the softened soil
winter hardened arteries of greening sap
unfurl reaching toward sun warming skies

whorls of tender petals emerge
until the expansiveness of the old tree’s heart
opens to the spring sky
and she
blooms
