Snatches of lullabies from a distant long ago room
Strains of the old rugged cross from dusty hymnals
Or maybe loud mellencamp from a car radio
Thumping across dirt roads
I never know if its real
Or made up
The sound of tires on the singing asphalt
Or the growl of gravel
Humming harmonies rising in clouds of dust
They’re the songs of wandering angels
Sing on
Sing on
Sing on
I love the idea of wandering angels singing 🙂 It makes me wonder what my angel is singing?
Lovely, and that road, looks like one of the roads coming out of the north mountains above Swissdale, not far from where I grew up.
I love the thought of “songs of wandering angels”. Yes, may they sing on.
We have a couple of concrete sections of highway in New Brunswick that sing as you drive over them. So much fun! Jane
