sweet water from the well
casts the evenings magic spell
as the fiddlers resin up their bows
mandolins court and spark
in the early summers dark
lighting fireflies to twinkle and glow
its not every night but now
we will sing and tell stories how
we lived and dreamed and truly loved
its not every night but when
we will gather up to dance again
and the music rises
to the summer moon above
so grab your partner
and coo and dove
hug your friends and swing your love
cause all we have is the music
and the stars
its not every night but now
we are here and this is how
we celebrate the music
of our lives
So beautiful and so true!
Good morning, Sam – met lots of musician friends that evening in Hollister at the Black Horse Saloon – they have open mic night every Wed – but was a great night to celebrate my husbands bday! Enjoy your day! K
Beautifully written Kathleen and great photos, just as I imaged it all.
Love the verbs in the first four lines. You have captured the spirit well.
Great party 🙂
All we have is the music and the stars…i agree with that.Great pics! Looks like a great party !
Now off to google Ozarks..
Oh, you had me with the fiddles and the mandolin. How I love the sounds they make, one minute soft and haunting, the next kick-up-your-feet-and-dance! I think I’d like to be at this party too, thank you for bringing us there!
My family gatherings always include music played by those who could; usually fiddle, piano, guitar, & accordion; i was never musical, so could not join in; but it certainly left me with indelible memories & song to hum, and family members to miss later on.
Not every night but now–yes, we have to enjoy the music while it lasts. Wonderful verse and photos–nothing like a good shindig!
I love it…this is indeed how we celebrate life ~ Beautifully written Kathleen ~
