warming earth gently prods the arthritic roots
curled in the softened soil
winter hardened arteries of greening sap
unfurl reaching toward sun warming skies
whorls of tender petals emerge
until the expansiveness of the old tree’s heart
opens to the spring sky
and she
blooms
From my walks this week I see that the ones in my own neighborhood are not quite ready yet. But it won’t be long. I think I included them in a video or two last year, and I might repost those to cheer on the greening and blooming process.
Lovely description of this by the way. I identify well with those arthritic roots.
