festive night filled with music
sound of guitar, mandolin and
drum (pa rum pa pa pum)
Red Santa hats
jingle bells and neon signs
brighten the early winter darkness
Voices raised in laughter
and song
on the first day of Christmas
my true love
sang to me
Wildfire
and a possum in a persimmon tree

*** it was a wonderful night at the Black Horse for the Christmas open mic night. I read a couple of poems and we all sang my take on the Twelve Days (see the post on Dec 7) Bob played and sang Wildfire. And our friends, old and new, made merry.
One note – the author, Janet Dailey, passed away this past weekend. She was co-owner of the Inn and the Black Horse. She loved the Ozarks and made it her home for many years. She will be missed.
