You hold in your hand
A golden orb
Heavy with promise
The sparks fly
As you tear the thick rind
And the rich perfume
Fills the air
One by one
Finally you hold the fruit
To my awaiting lips
Sweet juice overwhelming
To the sensual pleasure
Of the orange
In your hand
The Art of Seduction
You hold in your hand
Sounds delicious 🙂
Have you thought of a career as an orange seller? With lines like this, you’d do well 🙂
On a different note, a few years ago I spent time in Ukraine at a theology college. When they think about the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, they think of it as an orange and not as an apple, which seems to be the dominant western image.
How funny! I actually have read that about the forbidden fruit, tho I must admit, did not enter my mind when writing this poem. Thanks, Tony! K
hmmm ..nice and sensual description..i love oranges…cut them in my müsli in the morning…think i should eat them single though after reading yours..smiles

…very sensitive write…that make use of all senses… like the luscious segments revealed.. and the holding of fruit to awaiting lips… smiles…

I really like the idea of a ‘golden orb heavy with promise.” Then later the mention of the luscious segments. You have me hungering now for such an orange.
