With each silken thread
she pulls through and over
every tiny knot
tied just so
round about floss
woven and plaited
filament of golden line
cast on silver
sharpened needles to make
the perfect point
she spins a yarn
entangling and intertwining her tales
each with richer colors
and resplendent texture
until the final tapestry
glows with wondrous enchantment
sweet metaphor, nicely described.
Lovely, meaningful poetry β€
That kind of precision and patience needed to sew is a valuable asset π
Cool connection here, as this poem can serve as an extended metaphor for many, many facets of life.
I see a Penelope here…carefully weaving…or a lady of the Unicorn tapestries…patiently sewing that golden thread, undoing a mistake, redoing to golden perfection. Nice work!
Jacquie – that is so funny – I am working on a Penelope poem now! thanks so much for your wonderful comment – K
All I could envision was someone wise, a story teller, telling stories with her tapestry π
Me too, Gretchen – thanks so much – K
Such is the life of…a Writer.
yes, we hope so, don’t we. thanks! K
I do love the comparison of story telling to needlework. Both enjoyable ways of ‘spinning a yarn.’
Thanks, Mary! K
Love the spinning and intertwining of tales with the yarn rich with colors ~
Thank you, Grace. K
Really beautiful – my mother was a seamstress – I can see her working with that precision.
Thanks Lorri – k
being one who sews I enjoyed the word picture here…
So happy you enjoyed it – thanks – K
nice….it takes special care, that weaving and knotting…as much as it does to tell a story as well…patience with and care with each thread brought into it….
Thanks, Brian! K
perfect comparison! you’ve written it with as much care as you describe your storyteller using π
Thank you, kind friend! Hope all is well with you and the pups. K
