As beautiful as it is rare
The dance of the rabbit and hare
Under the sapphire light
Of the August blue moon
They circle and prance
In a counterpoint dance
Under the indigo light
Of the August blue moon
Rabbits leap and twirl
As the hare jump and whirl
About the sapphire field
Under the August blue moon
You can’t dream of such a sight
As the excitement of the night
Under the indigo light
Of the August blue moon
For the DVerse prompt using the wonderful paintings of Borg de Nobel.
I could totally see this as the beginnings of a picture book for kids 🙂
This is delightful!
Such an easy flow of rythmn and rhyme, and a fun fantasy there–under the Auguest Blue Moon. Good use of repetition, too.
PS – and the dancing words – very lyrical. I’m sorry I’m traveling and not having easy access here! k.
Thanks so much – I appreciate your dropping by! K
A very pretty poem – all the blues are great. K.
This is gorgeous and so much fun to envision. 🙂

Fun to read. I can picture these rabbits jumping. I also like the rhyme you worked into your poem!
Thanks – so happy you enjoyed it – K
Couldn’t help but think of my daughter’s first pet, a rabbit she named Jacob!
I wonder if Jacob ever danced in the moonlight : ) K
smiles….lovely imagery…we have rabbits that come to our back yard at night and sometimes i sit and watch them hopping all around…smiles….
Thanks, Brian – it was fun to write. K
