Mid Winter

MidWinter

The ground weeps with relief–
a watery warmth, rare in midwinter.
An aroma, pungent of earth’s sudden thaw,
the fresh south wind
soon to be harsh
with lightening,
heavy with thunder.
Tarnished clouds
swiftly release
the cold rain.
